Galoni becomes Thordon Bearings' CEO
Anna Galoni has been named as the new CEO of bearing and seal specialist Thordon Bearings, a Canadian Thomson-Gordon Group company. She succeeds Terry McGowan, who has retired after almost 14 years in the CEO role.
Galoni joined the Burlington, Ontario-headquartered company in 2007 and has served in a number of senior roles in various departments including human resources director, new product development director and chair of Thordon Bearings, a position she continues to hold.
By emphasising the “potential” of the company, which has “completed an internal restructure and finalised a set of business objectives […], while creating opportunities in new (market segments), such as the forestry and mining industries,” Galoni looks forward “to ensuring the company remains at the very forefront of environmentally focused maritime seal and bearings solutions.”
Thordon Bearings is close to unveiling new marine products, which may result in more ship types returning to water lubricated propeller shafts. In addition to that, as Thomson-Gordon Group Innovator and Thordon Bearings' Founder, George A. Thomson said, “Galoni […] is now beginning to implement a plan that will see (the company) expand and diversify the portfolio into other markets”. (amh)
