GAC Qatar inaugurates Ras Laffan office
The inauguration of GAC Qatar’s branch at Ras Laffan, one of the world’s largest hydrocarbons export ports, marks the latest stage in the company’s expansion plans. The official opening comes as the company celebrates 40 years since its establishment and confirms its position as a major provider of shipping and logistics services as well as support for offshore projects from the port, which is operated and managed by Qatar Petroleum.
Previously, GAC handled operations at Ras Laffan in an OPA (owners’ protecting agency) capacity and, from May 2017, with an on-site team to supply ship agency and support services. According to GAC Qatar’s general manager Daniel Nordberg, the decision to set up a fully-fledged office was a direct response to growing activity and demand for services at the port. Ras Laffan is the only port for offshore field support in Qatar, and all the field operators are based there. (mw)
