Future works at Port of Halifax
As part of its plans to reduce the number of truck loads and related greenhouse gas emissions associated with hauling slate to the Fairview Cove sequestration facility, the Halifax Port Authority (HPA), is preparing to begin infilling the basin between Piers A-1 and B at Ocean Terminals. The project is expected to start in May 2022 and take approximately three years to complete.
A new location for the sequestration of pyritic slate generated from construction projects in downtown Halifax will thus be created. Alternate terminal and shed space will become available at Ocean Terminals and Richmond Terminals, the Port Authority said in a statement. (sh)
