Funding for new terminal at Trois-Rivières
In the Canadian Port of Trois-Rivières, the Terminal 21 construction project has taken the next step with the confirmation of public funding of CAD 22.5 million from the Ministère des Transports du Québec under the Advantage St. Lawrence programme.
Chantal Rouleau, minister for transport, Jean Boulet, minister of labour, employment and social solidarity and minister responsible for the Mauricie region, and Sonia Lebel, president of the treasury board and MNA for Champlain, made the relevant announcement at the port.
The Terminal 21 project will increase the port's capacity by almost 50%. It will be used for the transhipment of dry bulk, liquid bulk and general cargo. The project includes the construction of wharves, retaining structures, road and rail access roads and storage space. It will require a total investment of approximately CAD 130 million. (cd)
