Funding for female-led Frisco drone company

Mightyfly, an autonomous air cargo carrier based in the San Francisco Bay Area, has closed USD 5.1 million in seed funding.

The round includes investments from 500 start-ups, At One Ventures, Global Founders Capital, Graph Ventures, and Halogen Ventures. It will be used to expand hiring, scale up Mightyfly’s fleet, and build the infrastructure required to support a global network of hubs.

The Mightyfly MF-100 is a hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft with a 45 kg cargo capacity, 240 km/h cruising speed and 965 km range.

An aircraft with 225 kg cargo capacity is planned by CEO Manal Habib and co-founder Scott Parker. The two met while working at Zipline (Habib led flight controls and Parker was a senior mechanical engineer) but realised a need for a larger autonomous aircraft with a greater cargo capacity. (ah)
