Fully-electric HGV to be tested in H1/2021
Swedish start-up Volta Trucks has revealed its first vehicle and the world’s first purpose-built full-electric 16-t commercial vehicle designed specifically for inner-city distribution services.
The vehicle is 9,460 m in length, 3,470 m high and 2,550 m wide and will use 160 - 200 kWh of iron phosphate battery power. Its gross vehicle weight is 16,000 kg and the vehicle's top speed is 90 km/h.
In H1/2021, Volta Trucks will embark on the next stage of development, being the production of twelve pilot fleet vehicles. These vehicles will be built in the UK and used for testing and evaluation with some parcel delivery and logistics companies like DPD. The production is expected to start in 2022. (ben)
