Fully automatic maneuvering improves efficiency
The test run with a fully automated shunting locomotive has been completed at Jade Weser Port in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. The project is supported by the German federal ministry for digital and transport as part of the Shunting Terminal 4.0 research project.
The test run showed that the operation of a fully automated shunting locomotive has the potential to increase the efficiency of rail-side processes. However, rail operations and logistics transport chains must still be optimised and coordinated with the management systems used to ensure a long-term regular operation. Jade Waser Project has welcomed plans to carry out follow-up tests for this purpose. (ben)
