Fuel cell trucks surpass 10 million km
Hyundai Motor’s Swiss fleet of fuel cell trucks recently reached a new record, covering 10 million km in just three years and eight months since this truck model began to operate in the country in October 2020. Currently, 48 Xcient fuel cell lorries are in service in Switzerland.
The truck is powered by two 90-kW fuel cell systems (total 180 kW power) and a 350 kW e-motor, giving a maximum range of over 400 km.
These fuel cell heavy-duty trucks operating on Swiss road networks use only ‘green hydrogen’, which, in combination with fuel cell technology, significantly reduces carbon emissions. The Hyundai fuel cell truck has so far been introduced in ten countries in Europe, Middle East, and Asia. (ben)
