From Upper Styria to the rest of Europe by rail

Innofreight, a rail logistics company based in Bruck an der Mur (Austria), has revealed the ‘metal valley train’, which offers 24 cities, institutions, and companies in eastern Upper Styria a platform that will be travelling throughout Europe.

Made up of 36 containers of the ‘Woodtainer XXL’ type designed and manufactured by Innofreight and optimised for the transport of wood chips, the train was presented in a special ceremony in Leoben this week.

The mayor of the town, Kurt Wallner, was one of the people who came up with the idea for the train. Its green paintwork is not only reminiscent of Styria’s national colours, but also stands for the Innofreight Group's mission to shift freight transport from road to rail - specifically for companies in the timber industry such as Sappi in Gratkorn, Zellstoff Pöls in Linz and Vienna, and the Czech company Mondi Steti.
