From Rotterdam to Vienna
The C.RO Ports- and RSC/Bertschi terminals in the port of Rotterdam will be pleased to hear that their hinterland connection to Vienna has been substantially improved.
The existing Hupac container shuttle has been expanded by an additional service and now runs three times a week between the Dutch port and the container terminal Wien Cont. The shuttle transports mainly consumer goods such as furniture, electric appliances and clothes.
The LKW Walter train is a trailer service that is deployed for conveying automobile parts between the UK and the rest of Europe. The number of roundtrips has been raised to four per week.
“A very positive development,” said Matthijs van Doorn, director logistics at Rotterdam’s port operator, welcoming the almost two-fold increase of this service.
“The corridor that connects us with Vienna is of decisive importance for us since this city acts as a hub for many destinations in central, eastern and southern Europe.” (sh)
