From Kiev to orbit - via Istanbul and Miami
Turkish Cargo has transported the Ukrainian earth observation satellite Sich-2-30 to Miami for its launch with a connection flight at Istanbul. The satellite, which has been developed as part of Ukraine’s national targeted scientific and technical space programme, will blast off at the launch area at the Kennedy Space Center (USA) in January 2022.
To facilitate the loading and unloading operations, Sich-2-30 had been dismantled into multiple components, with its components placed carefully on two separate pallets together with the supplies in order to avoid any damage during the shipment.
The shipment of the spacecraft, loaded on board the Turkish Cargo aircraft by means of the LIFO (last in first out) method by the expert teams, was "accomplished with a perfectly executed operation", as the carrier with over 30 years of experience in special cargo shipments said. (ah)
