Fresh international connections for NE India

The Indian carrier, Spice Xpress, recently flagged off its first ever "Spice Fresh" consignment to Hong Kong and Dubai from Guwahati in Assam (India). The company sees huge potential for exporting agricultural products from northeast India, which lacks proper infrastructural facilities.

It is planned to set up stevia and okra plantations in the region, which aims to export of over 5 t of fresh fruits and vegetables after the next week’s harvest festival Bihu.

To mark its foray into the export of mandarin oranges, two Spice Xpress aircraft, each carrying 1 t of the fruit, took off from Guwahati and flew to Hong Kong and Dubai.

Spice Fresh will serve Hong Kong with daily 18 t freighter flights stemming from Guwahati and Kolkata and both new routes will be served using Spice Xpress and Spice Jet aircraft.
