Fresh blood for Briese

BBC Chartering, an affiliate of the Briese Group from Leer (Germany), is enlarging its fleet. The new ‘BBC Ukraine’, an F-500 type multipurpose and heavylift vessel co-owned by Briese Schiffahrt and Swiss investors  was built by Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering (China), was delivered in Singapore.

On its maiden voyage till March, the newbuild will call at the ports of Futong (Indonesia), Map Ta Phut, Laem Chabang (both Thailand), Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Ensenada (Mexico), Port Everglades FL (USA) on its way to Houston TX (USA).

The ‘BBC Ukraine’, 147 m long and 22.8 m wide, offers a service speed of 15 knots. The vessel is emitting up to 40% less carbon and offers significantly more cargo carrying capacity vs. its predecessing generation. Its two Liebherr cranes can each lift 250 t at an 18 m outreach, and up to 500 t in combination.

In the course of 2022, three more sister vessels of the F-500 type will follow – the ‘BBC Manila’, probably in April, the ‘BBC Sebastopol’ in July, and the ‘BBC Kherson’, before the end of the year. The remaining newbuilds of a series of ten are due in 2023. These F-500 units, the workhorses of the maritime heavylift business, are particularly engaged in the transport of wind-power equipment.

Briese Schiffahrt (Schweiz) AG is in final preparation of issuing its first securitzed and bankable certifcate via which professional investors can participate in the success of Briese Schiffahrt‘s new F-500 multipurpose and heavylift vessels. (cd)
