Freight accounts for 14% of Emirates' total revenue
In financial year ended 31 March 2019, the Emirates Group posted a profit of USD 631 million, a 44% drop compared to FY 2018. The Dubai-based group’s revenue rose to USD 29.8 billion (+7%).
Emirates Skycargo delivered a strong performance in a highly competitive market with dampening demand, contributing to 14% of the airline’s total transport revenue. Emirates’ cargo division reported revenues of USD 3.6 billion (+5%), while tonnage carried reached 2.7 million t (+1%). Freight yield per freight tonne kilometre was increased by 3% for the second consecutive year.
Emirates’ total freighter fleet stood at twelve B777Fs. In addition to belly-hold capacity to the airline's new passenger destinations, Emirates Skycargo launched a new service to Bogotá (Columbia) and resumed services to Erbil (Iraq). (ah)
