Four times more vehicles moved by rail
Train transport continues at full speed in Spain’s Port of Valencia: In H1/2023 more than 87 trains per week travelled to and from the port, compared to 83 in the same period in 2022, bringing the total number of trains in H1/2023 up to 2,180.
The number of containers carried by rail increased by 8%, while the total volume of goods rose by 11%. The average length of the trains grew to 498 m from 493 m in 2022, with the number of wagons augmenting by 10% to 45,311 units.
30,642 vehicles were shipped on the railways in this period - four times more than in H1/2022. All in all, total throughput in H1/2023 amounted to 1,154,072, Valencia’s Port Authority said. (ben)
