Four challenges and three trends, says Kaizen
In Madrid, the Kaizen Institute recently published its analysis of the situation in the logistics sector. The consultancy has identified four main challenges that logistics faces.
The increasing cost of labour, more than 5% in 2020, with the forecast for the next 3 years that it will rise by another 16%.
The paradigm of customer service goes from speed to transparency for the client, as it can show him his state at all times.
Logistics operations are increasingly complex, due mainly to the personalisation of service.
The speed at which the market evolves reduces the duration of companies' competitive advantages.
According to Kaizen Institute manager Carlos Lloret, “technological development is the main cause of the market changing so fast."
Furthermore, the Kaizen Institute report includes three main trends in the sector.
First of all, agile operations with the ability to adjust capacity and scope, while maintaining high levels of productivity and low costs.
Secondly, sustainable mobility and circular supply chains driven by consumer and customer demand for green suppliers.
Thirdly, investing in digitalisation as a way to create unified operations, with great transparency and responsiveness. (sh)
