FOT: Martin von Känel to lead financing division
Martin von Känel has been appointed vice director and new head of the financing division at the Federal Office of Transport (FOT), effective 1 December 2023.
Currently director of the transport company Martigny et Region’s (TMR) and president of the cooperation platform of the metre-gauge railways Railplus, von Känel will succeed Pierre André Meyrat, who retired at the end of March 2023.
Von Känel is an operating technician with further training in business management who spent most of his professional career in French-speaking Switzerland.
After working for BLS and Bombardier in Villeneuve VD, von Känel joined TMR as technical director in 2011. Von Känel has led TMR as general director since 2013 and was elected president of Railplus in 2020. He also holds various positions in the Association of Public Transport (VöV). (cj)
