Fostering trimodal solutions at duisport
Duisport has developed a trimodal container terminal as part of the new logistics concept for the logport VI location, including the basic conditions for legal approval. The area measures roughly 430,000 sqm and has a 500 m quay wall.
The aim of the town of Duisburg and the port complex duisport is to reduce truck traffic and provide sustainable alternatives for ship and train services in particular.
An important component of logport VI's infrastructure strategy is to repair the rail link to Oberhausen-West and improve the water infrastructure at the new terminal in Walsum. To this end, the bridges and the railway crossings are adapted to meet the new demands. The new link is expected to be completed by 2024.
Industrial sites of ThyssenKrupp and the beverage group Hövelmann as well as a Steag power plant are already located in immediate proximity to the area. (mw)
