For spare parts to China and Mexico
Imperial, a provider based in South Africa offering automotive and other logistics services, has been awarded a contract by BMW to manage the foreign supply centre (AVZ) at the Leipzig location in Germany. The project started on 1 April this year.
From this location, the BMW plants in China and Mexico are supplied with construction components for the assembly of a variety of models. Incoming components and production materials, from screws to complete engines including hazardous goods, are packed and shipped.
Every day, up to one hundred teu are prepared for shipment at the Leipzig site. Hakan Bicil, CEO logistics international at Imperial: "We have been working for BMW for many years. We have been managing the BMW Group's distribution centre and spare parts warehouse in Bavaria since 2016.” (sh)
