For hydrogen produced on board
Maran Dry Management (MDM), the dry bulk shipping unit of the Angelicoussis Group, which is in charge of commercial, technical and operational management, has inked a joint development project (JDP) agreement with Class Society Rina and Chinese designer Sdari.
The partners plan to create a new bulk carrier which will meet IMO 2050 standards using an innovative fuel solution of LNG and hydrogen produced on demand on board.
This LNG and hydrogen powered 210,000 dwt bulk carrier will be based on a propulsion arrangement which reduces the running machinery at sea and combines the ship’s fuel (LNG) with steam to produce hydrogen and CO2. This is the first time for this design, which was launched for an MR tanker earlier this year, to be included in an application for a bulk carrier. (sh)
