For a common language on the Upper Rhine
There are three frontrunners: Duisport, the Port of Switzerland and the Port of Ludwigshafen have inked an agreement of joint usage of the enhanced River Ports Planning and Information System (Rpis) from Rhein Ports. This port communication system connects and digitises inland shipping with the associated port industry.
Developed by Rhein Ports, Rpis is the first digital traffic management platform for freight traffic by inland waterway vessel in the hinterland. Simplified information is exchanged via the system between all relevant stakeholder groups - such as shipping companies, terminals or ports - in international supply chains in order to optimally support the transport of goods as well as cargo handling in logistics hubs.
After Duisport joined the Port of Switzerland and the CCI Alsace Eurométropole (Port de Mulhouse) as shareholders of Rhein Ports last year, the usage contracts have now been signed.
Rpis has been in use on the Upper Rhine since 2017 and has been adapted to the current needs of the port industry in close cooperation with stakeholders and long-standing partners, and is now available in a new version.
This further developed Rpis with its additional modules such as bulk goods handling, a port monitor or a customs module, is ready for use. The system is already the standard for many companies along the Upper Rhine. (cd)
