Food retailer builds automated distribution hub
Willi-Food, an Israeli-based specialist for kosher food products, is investing NIS 90 million (USD 24.6 million) in constructing a new distribution centre for chilled and frozen foods.
The hub will be automated and computerised. It is designed to effectively and efficiently support the company's expansion and growth plans for the coming years, including the potential entry into new product categories, of frozen and chilled foods, Willi-Food said.
The new logistics centre will be built on property owned by the company in Yavne near Tel Aviv, Israel, adjacent to the old facility currently in operation and will allow the company to significantly expand its storage, collection, and distribution space.
Directly and through its subsidiaries, Willi-Food designs, imports, markets and distributes 600 food products worldwide. It serves 3,000 selling points in Israel and around the world, including large retail and private supermarket chains, wholesalers, and institutional consumers. (ben)
