Volga-Dnepr Airlines (VDA) organised delivery of what the oversized and superheavy project transport specialist called “the world's largest and most sophisticated commercial communications satellite.” It hauled the Inmarsat-6 F1 from Toulouse (France) to Kitakyushu (Japan).
The complex delivery with an Antonov AN-124-100 was completed in cooperation with Bolloré Logistics, a long-standing partner of Volga-Dnepr in various industries. Initial project discussions started in 2019 and operations planning in September 2021.
Dmitry Vorontsov, the Volga-Dnepr Group’s director for Apac development, said that “this year we’ve seen significant increases take place in business for the aerospace sector, amid the revival of industry projects. So far VDA has transported more than 3,000 t of aerospace cargo this year – with more projects in the pipeline.” (ah)
