Flying a first satellite from Japan to New Zealand
Japan-based Yusen Logistics has transported ADRAS-J, Astroscale’s commercial debris inspection demonstration satellite, to Auckland.
It will be launched by a rocket from a launch site in Mahia and is designed to obtain images and delivering observational data to better understand the debris environment.
In December 2022, Yusen signed a marketing partnership agreement with Astroscale, which was selected by Japan’s Aerospace Exploration Agency as a partner for phase I of its commercial removal of debris demonstration project, supporting its goal of removing debris to make people, the earth and space sustainable.
Now, Yusen completed arrangements to transport the satellite by air with a chartered flight operated by ANA Cargo, including collection, packing and customs clearance. (ah)
