Five more LNG dual-fuel vessels

Pacific International Lines (PIL) has placed an order for five additional 9,000 teu liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel container vessels, accelerating its fleet renewal strategy.

Built by China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, the newbuilds are scheduled for delivery in 2027-2028 and will feature advanced cargo stowage optimisation and environmental sustainability capabilities.

In line with PIL’s net-zero target by 2050, these ships will transition to low-emission bio-methane and integrate digital technologies like AI and IoT for efficient route planning. This brings PIL’s newbuild orders since 2022 to 18, supporting the company’s commitment to modernise its fleet with energy-efficient and IMO-compliant ships. (pb)
