Five dedicated 737 BCFs for Alaska
Alaska Air Cargo has announced that Boeing will be responsible for the conversion of two 737-800 Boeing converted freighters (BCF) to be added to its dedicated freighter fleet serving the state of Alaska. The work will be carried out at Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Servicios Aeroindustriales (Coopesa) in Costa Rica. The two 737-800BCFs will increase the carrier’s fleet of freighters assigned to serving Alaska from three to five aircraft.
The two 737-800 airplanes will come from Alaska Airlines’ existing passenger fleet and will be leased from BBAM, a major specialist in aircraft leasing and freighter conversions.
The conversions of the passenger configurations to all-freight aircraft are set to begin in 2023, with the completion of the final aircraft scheduled for early 2024. (cj)
