First new sawn timber wagon arrives in Finland
Fenniarail is expanding its timber transport business. For UPM-Kymmene, a producer of forest industry products, the Finnish operator recently started raw wood rail transport services using its own locomotives and UPM-managed raw wood wagons.
Timber is transported from loading points located in different parts of the country to UPM’s factories. Fenniarail is also investing in modern and efficient rolling for timber transportations.
The first new Habins sawn timber wagons for the rail company arrived at the port of Hamina, Finland, recently. This first wagon had undergone several tests in Estonia. Test drives will continue in Finland in the coming weeks.
Sawmills are currently in great demand for efficient and environmentally friendly transportation of their products, Fenniarail said. (ben)
