First German car terminal on the Baltic Sea
Autolink Germany's first vehicle terminal officially began operations in Rostock's Überseehafen on 22 September 2022. This is the final result of the concession negotiations between Autolink Germany and Rostock Port that came to a successful conclusion in October 2020.
On 75,000 sqm, one of the most modern vehicle terminals in Europe and the first car terminal to open in a German Baltic Sea port, was built in less than two years. The railway connection with a double siding, each with a useful length of almost 600 m, is also in place.
Two double ramps were built for loading and unloading car trains, as the new terminal can accommodate up to 3,200 vehicles. Autolink and Rostock Port expect to handle up to 150,000 cars per year. New cars are to be exported from here primarily to Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.
Arnd Brockmüller, managing director of Autolink Germany, on the construction of the new vehicle terminal: "With the new car terminal in Rostock we are closing a gap, because until now there has been no comparable offer in a German Baltic Sea port." (sh)
