First feeder service after 15 years

The shipping line Wallenius SOL is further extending its services. The line was formed in 2019 by Wallenius Lines and Swedish Orient Linien (SOL) and operates scheduled services from five ports in the Baltic Sea’s Gulf of Bothnia to Continental Europe and the UK.

In the context of an agreement between the logistics company Scanlog and Northvolt the line has added a first Swedish commercial port to its network. The service will see weekly traffic to the port of Skellefteå, beginning in October 2021.

This new route linking Zeebrugge to Antwerp, Kokkola, Skelleftehamn, Kemi and Oulu means the port of Skellefteå will receive calls from its first feeder service in 15 years. The link can also handle ro-ro traffic for machinery, trailers and rolling cargo, including breakbulk and roll-trailers.

The chartered vessels ‘Fiona Sea’ and ‘Jutlandia Sea’ will initially serve the route. At the end of the year they’ll be replaced by newly-built multi-fuel ro-ro vessels. (cd)
