First electric tractor unit in Bern
The Swiss freight forwarder Direkt Transport has put its first fully electric truck into operation. The vehicle, a Renault Trucks E-Tech T 4x2, is also the first fully electric tractor unit to be in service in and around Bern.
The company started its operations in 1997 with the transport and delivery of newspapers on behalf of Swiss Post. Today, around 40% of its shipments are building materials. It now also trucks partial and full loads of all kinds of goods.
The new Renault Trucks E-Tech complements the company's fleet of 27 vehicles, has a range of 340 km with its six battery units and is used for local deliveries on behalf of Swiss Post Logistics. (ben)
