First direct Mundra–US service

DP World has launched the first direct service from its Mundra terminal to the east coast of the USA, marking a new milestone in Indo–US trade.

The MECL service, inaugurated by the call of the ‘Maersk Atlanta’, connects Mundra to ports including Houston, Norfolk, Newark and Savannah. The route will reduce transit times and support Indian exports such as garments, machinery parts, pharmaceuticals and chemicals.

“Efficient maritime routes are vital to India’s global trade role,” said Ravinder Johal, COO at DP World. “The MECL service strengthens bilateral relations and improves direct connectivity.” With strong road and rail links to India’s industrial centres, the DP World Mundra terminal is set to benefit shippers in northwestern India by offering faster access to the US market.
