First class 8 H2-truck in daily service

DHL Supply Chain is planning to incorporate two fuel-cell electric trucks, powered with hydrogen, into its US fleet. The H2-vehicles, manufactured by Nikola, will replace two diesel trucks, which are expected to reduce 80% carbon emissions over the course of a year.

Using fuel cell technology to convert hydrogen into electricity, the class 8 trucks have a range over 800 km with a single fill. They will be deployed and fuelled at the Diageo campus in Plainfield, Ill, a hub that comprises manufacturing, bottling, and warehousing facilities.

The acquisition of the H2 trucks is part of Diageo’s broader efforts to reach net zero carbon emissions in its direct operations by 2030.
