First Atlantic crossing for “The Little Prince”
“The Little Prince” – one of the world’s best-selling books – was written in the USA in 1942, before author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry left to fight in North Africa in 1943. The original manuscript of the book was sold to the Morgan Library & Museum and never crossed the Atlantic – until now.
An Air France Boeing B777-300ER (F-GZNA) recently flew it from New York JFK to Paris CDG airport, where it landed on 1 February, destined to be a highlight of the first major exhibition in France devoted to the literary masterpiece.
Pilot Jean-Michel Buffet said on France Télévision that “it was reading Saint-Exupéry, Kessel and Romain Gary, all these people who were pilots, that really gave me the vocation to become an airline pilot.” (cj)
