First Antonov aircraft without Russian parts
Ukrainian Antonov Airlines has completed the jig assembly of the AN-178 airframe (series No. 006) intended for delivery under the contract between Spetstechnoexport and Peru's ministry of the interior.
At the presentation on the eve of Ukraine's National Flag Day (23 August), the aircraft manufacturer stressed having completed design works on the replacement of Russian-made vendor items by Ukrainian and Western analogues, issuing design documentation at its own expense.
The AN-178 medium transport aircraft (max. payload 18 t) was created on the basis of Antonov’s experience in the development of transport aircraft in combination with innovative technologies. It performed its maiden flight on 15 May and will replace the AN-12 transports of the preceding generation in the market. (ah)
