Finnlines going strong
Finnlines transported 572,000 cargo units, shipped 99,000 cars, and carried 514,000 private and commercial passengers from January to September 2022, generating a revenue of EUR 558.4 million, which is 31% up from the same period in 2021.
The result for the reporting period was EUR 105.2 million – an uptick of 52% compared to EUR 69.0 million in 9M/2021. Ebidta also increased, reaching EUR 169.2 million (EUR 121.2 million in 2021).
Tom Pippingsköld, president and CEO, underlined that "financial performance has improved regardless of the fact that consumer and business confidence has been hit by the war in Ukraine, accelerating inflation and soaring energy costs."
In addition, Finnlines introduced three hybrid ro-ro vessels over the summer 2022, part of its EUR 500 million green investment programme. The vessels operate on the Bilbao–Zeebrugge/Antwerp–Travemünde–Helsinki/Kotka route. Finnlines also launched a new freight route between Rosslare, Ireland, and Zeebrugge, Belgium in July 2022. (sh)
