Finnlines: a dip in 2023
The shipping company's financial statement for 2023 showed an 8% decrease in revenue compared to 2022, with ebitda at EUR 166.3 million (-24.8% vs 2022). The company transports a third of the 1 million trucks carrying goods between Finland, Sweden, and Continental Europe annually. However, high interest rates negatively impacted private consumption, construction, and industrial demand.
Finnlines is currently focusing on adjusting its fleet, improving cost-efficiency, and finding new growth. It is close to opening a new ro-pax line between Sweden and Poland and has established a strong presence in the market.
The company has completed a EUR 500 million green investment programme, with the delivery of the second superstar vessel, “Finncanopus”, and its sister vessel, “Finnsirius”, which will increase cargo and passenger capacity on the Finland-Sweden route.
Finnlines is committed to green shipping and is investing in new vessels to support its customers' transition towards sustainability and environmental responsibility, the shipping company said in its press release. (pb)
