Finnish forwarder trials biogas trucks

The Nordic service provider Freja has been using biogas to power its trucks in Finland since the beginning of December 2018.

In collaboration with Gasum, the forwarder started semi-trailer transport with an Iveco Stralis NP tractor unit. The collaboration is related to a study carried out under the Civitas Eccentric project co-funded by the EU. The study produces research data on the use of gas in heavy-duty transport.

The Civitas Eccentric project aims at developing a sustainable mobility system by testing biogas vehicles and the increased use of biogas in logistics. Freja’s traffic director, Sampo Koulu, observed: “We want to develop efficient transport solutions with a minimal environmental burden.” (ben)
