Finnair posts solid cargo performance in February
As a result of the closure of Russian airspace since the last days of February 2022, many of Finnair's cargo figures declined year-on-year during last month. Available scheduled cargo tkm increased by 3% yoy but revenue scheduled cargo tkm decreased by 2.7%.
Good cargo performance continued, however, in February, even though the total cargo tonnes (including cargo-only operations) decreased by 20.8% yoy as Finnair operated several cargo-only flights during February 2022.
Tonnage on the Asia route (5327 t) which is most important to Finnair Cargo, increased by 7.3%, exploding Middle Eastern tonnage (1970 t, +515%) surpassed European (1333 t, +58%) and North American volumes (1218 t, -58%). Month-on-month (February/January) increase was 4.5% despite the shorter month. (ah)
