Finnair finds ways to Asian cargo hubs
Finnair is updating its traffic programme after the closure of Russian airspace. With cargo prices still rising, the company can continue its passenger services to its key Asian markets despite the longer flight times.
Finnair is still serving Seoul and Shanghai from its Helsinki hub. At the same time, the airline is cancelling flights to Osaka and Hong Kong until the end of April. Starting this week, as of today, 10 March 2022, the Nordic carrier is flying to Shanghai once a week, and three times a week to Seoul as of 12 March.
The flight routes avoid Russian airspace, and the flight time for both routes will be 12-14 hours, depending on the direction. Both routes circumvent Russian airspace from the south, and the return flight from Seoul to Helsinki can also take the northern route.
Finnair announced earlier this week that it will continue to fly to Tokyo (photo), by-passing Russian airspace, with four weekly flights as of 9 March. Finnair also offers flights to Bangkok, Delhi, Phuket, and Singapore, on routes avoiding Russian airspace. (ah)
