Finnair Cargo builds long and short air bridges
While passenger traffic has been reduced to a minimum, Finnair's air cargo is still operating during this exceptional period. Last week, Finnair flew more than ten return flights to Seoul, Osaka and Tokyo, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
They carry national emergency supplies to both Finland and Estonia, coronavirus samples from private healthcare provider Mehiläinen and critical supplies from other organisations, as well as normal cargo, such as fresh fish. The flights are arranged both as charter as well as Finnair's own commercial operations.
All cargo flights, including the 30 minutes jump between Helsinki and Tallinn, are flown with the widebody A350 fleet. To increase cargo capacity, the cabins of two A350s have been converted for cargo use. Previously, Finnair only carried cargo in the hold. (ah)
