FedEx expands Laem Chabang facility to support EEC

FedEx has unveiled an expanded 4,900 sqm facility in Laem Chabang, Chonburi (Thailand), to meet growing logistics demand in the country’s ‘Eastern Economic Corridor’ (EEC).

The hub is nearly four times larger than the previous site and features advanced sorting technology that can handle 3,000 packages and hour. The facility will also support multimodal freight solutions. The facility in the Pinthong Logistics Park enhances access to key industrial zones.

Furthermore FedEx will thus be in a position to “extend shipment preparation times for export shipments from key industrial areas.”

This expansion is in line with Thailand’s goal to become “Asean’s premier logistics hub,” says Dr Chula Sukmanop, the secretary-general of the EEC. According to him it doesn’t only enhance economic growth, but also underscores “the EEC’s and Thailand’s readiness to serve as a prime investment destination for key industries.” (js)
