Extending LHV road network in Germany
Germany’s ministry of transport and digital infrastructure (BMVI) has decided to simplify the licensing regulations and introduce new safety regulations for longer and heavier vehicles (LHV) with a maximum length of 25.25 m. Use of such vehicles reduces emissions and the number of journeys.
In addition, some federal states are extending their road networks that are open to LHVs. HDS, a logistics cost advisory company, has said that Baden-Württemberg and Bremen want to allow the type 1 LHV on all their roads – and lift the general overtaking ban on the corresponding types of semi-trailers.
