Expansion work starts at Caen-Ouistreham port
Work has begun on the extension and refurbishment of the outer harbour of Caen-Ouistreham in Normandy (France). The broad development project of the Ports Normands Associés (known as Ports de Normandie since 7 January 2019) is also related to the installation of the wind farm Courseulles sur mer's maintenance base. The energy provider EDF chose to set up this facility in Ouistreham's outer harbour.
The work include, inter alia, lengthening the east mole to accommodate the maintenance base, and the implementation of a scheme in the west lock that will enable the port to receive larger commercial vessels. The port will invest a total of EUR 12 million in the project that is slated for completion in October 2019. (kd)
