Expanding trucking services in southern Africa

A. Hartrodt has set up a cross-border trucking division in Johannesburg, South Africa, with the aim to build up and expand cargo volumes in the region, the company says.

The intra-Africa business is mainly focused on exports from South Africa. For example, mines in Botswana need South African machinery for their operations.

A. Hartrodt transports these machines from Cape Town, among other places, to its own warehouse in Johannesburg, where they are consolidated and brought to a bonded warehouse in Gaborone in Botswana, cleared through customs and finally delivered over the last mile. Up to now, A. Hartrodt mainly offers services for sea freight in Cape Town and for air freight in Johannesburg. (ben)
