Expanding renewable fuel networks in Europe

UECC has completed Spain’s first truck-to-ship delivery of liquefied biomethane (LBM), supplied by Naturgy, in the port of Vigo (Spain). This milestone has diversified UECC’s LBM supply beyond its Zeebrugge hub and supports its ‘Sail for Change’ initiative, which helps major vehicle manufacturers cut emissions.

The delivery, part of Spain’s circular economy, uses biomethane from agricultural and livestock waste, cutting 500,000 t of CO₂ annually. LBM aligns with FuelEU Maritime regulations, offering UECC compliance surpluses whilst advancing its goal of net-zero emissions by 2040.

The fuel cuts around 5 t of CO₂e per tonne supplied and supports regional renewable energy projects. UECC aims to make this the first of many LBM truck deliveries in Spain. (pb)
