Expanding container logistics services
Rotterdam-headquartered Samskip group is acquiring a major part of the shares in Humber Port Logistics (HPL), UK. HPL principally serves ports on the River Humber and will continue to operate independently. The price of the transaction was not disclosed.
Jamie Benton, managing director, spoke of "growing HPL inside and outside the region. We anticipate better asset utilisation, engagement at a more strategic level with our customer base, and new opportunities to work with 4PL partners.” The work staff will stay on board, the HPL management as well as the workforce.
For Samskip, Richard Beales, regional director, UK, said that deepening the relationship with one of its main UK haulage partners would accelerate the shift towards sustainable multimodal transport. (sh)
