European ports team up for climate resilience

The Clarion project, "Climate Resilient Port Infrastructure," led by the Technische Universiteit Delft and involving Fundación Valenciaport, aims to enhance climate resilience and sustainability in European ports.

Launched with over EUR 8 million from Horizon Europe, Clarion will conduct ten pilot tests in ports in Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp, and Constanta, focusing on smart docks, infrastructure corrosion monitoring, and dredged sediment reuse.

Clarion seeks to establish an open innovation ecosystem to foster international collaboration among ports and stakeholders. Fundación Valenciaport will lead the process of identifying and defining climate resilience needs through a participatory approach.

The project consortium includes 21 entities, such as the port of Rotterdam, port of Antwerp-Bruges, Hamburg Port Authority, Portul Constanta, Acciona Construcción, and others, working together to develop a strong and sustainable port infrastructure. (pb)
