European hauliers are looking to expand
Despite the challenges of the last year – new regulations, the impact of Brexit and business disruption caused by Covid - more than a third of Europe's road haulage businesses are thinking about expanding their operations into other countries, with UK leading the list, according to a survey carried out by One Poll for DWF.
38% of haulage decision makers who transport goods to UK said that their companies are currently considering relocating or establishing new bases in UK. UK was closely followed by Italy (31%), Germany (30%), Poland (30%) and Spain (26%) as other destinations.
Despite the optimism of some companies, some perceived barriers to the market remain. The survey found that Brexit and lack of free movement within the EU was a concern for 39%, while 42% of haulage companies consider the complex regulations involved in setting up operations in UK to be a barrier to establishing a base there.
