European cargo carriers publish first policy manifesto
Some of Europe's prominent air cargo CEOs, united by Airlines for Europe (A4E) in Brussels (Belgium) last week, unveiled a set of key policy questions for the new EU mandate until 2024. The first-ever "A4E air cargo policy manifesto" outlines specific ways in which EU policymakers can support air cargo carriers in their drive towards a more efficient, sustainable and digitised air transport of the future.
It calls for further harmonisation among member states when implementing EU rules on security and customs practices, more ambitious joint efforts to digitalise the entire logistics chain as well as support for innovation projects.
Lufthansa Cargo CEO Peter Gerber (3rd from left): "Joint efforts include the development of a regulatory framework which focuses on seamless and efficient EU trade with the rest of the world, prioritising security, customs and digitalisation initiatives." (ah)
