Eurogate Group on a stable path
The Eurogate Group registered a stable 2018 financial year. Some 14.1 million teu were lifted at the group’s twelve locations in and around Europe, and the intermodal container transport volume rose 2.8% to around 1.05 million teu.
Eurogate’s five terminals in Germany handled 7.76 million in all last year (2017: 7.78 million teu).
However, marked decreases were seen at some transhipment terminals in Italy. Cagliari lost almost 50% of its cargo, due to the relocation of liner services. Box volumes at Gioia Tauro fell by 4.5% to the (still) high level of 2.29 million teu. The terminals in La Spezia (1.35 million teu, +0.8%) and Salerno (332,000 teu, +5.6%) performed well.
In Tangier (Morocco), handling volumes reached 1.38 million teu, on a par with the high level in 2017. Limassol (Cyprus) noted a 14% surge to almost 394,000 teu. (kd)
